Burn Baby Burn, Disco Breakfast Toast Inferno

For all you loyal readers I am back finally. Yes, it has been a while but now the focus is on breakfast. There is nothing like a hot cup of Java, bacon and eggs over medium. Oh! Did I I forget to mention the burned toast. It is almost like burned toast is a no no, every time I order it is never burned as much as I like. I'm talking so burned that you can smell it burning in the dining room. Okay, so you may be like what's the big deal with burned toast. Well, it has a delicious nice smokey flavor that can't be denied. It is also kind of a solute to my old man who used to get burned toast all the time along with"crispy bacon". Way back when when he worked on for the railroad in Manchester he would go to the Red Arrow Diner. All would be waiting for him when he arrived. Eggs bacon coffee and of course burned toast. Now that is service. So every time I go out to breakfast I say "burn it, as black as you can get it but it never comes out as burned as I want. So recently we were out with the inlaws and I order my burned toast and my mother in law "Mumsies" orders the same thing. Well Jimminy Christmas we have more in common than I thought. I almost fell out my chair when I heard that. I think there are many more closet burned toast fans out in the public and I wish they would make themselves known but many are afraid to order burned toast.

No Ice Cream in the desert

It's been awhile since I've posted and for good reason. The holidays were very busy this year with the typical craziness and hair pulling that goes along with trying to buy my wife gifts. Needless to say, 90% of what I buy gets returned and I spend a couple of more months making up for the my poor decisions. Of course this has nothing to do with food but it answers the question of the lack of posts for awhile. And we have the typical discussions about moving to someplace warm after another frigid New Hampshire day. But the conversations always go back to food and especially ice cream. It is almost impossible to find good ice cream during the winter months and we dream about our favorite places and visiting for the first time. Needless to say my wife's mother loves Ice Cream as well and we received a call today that Hayward's Ice Cream in Nashua, NH would be opening on February 17th... Stop the presses, the drought will soon be over.

The Best Ice Cream in Town

We recently discovered a great place for ice cream in Concord, New Hampshire. You could call us ice cream snobs because we only like the home made kind if you know what I mean? The place is called Granite State Candy and they have some of the best ice cream around. My personal favorite is "Moon Tracks" but they have many others. Anyway, our journey continues to find the best foods in New England and the world.

Pot of Gold

I want to tell you about a restaurant that we have been to many times because of their fantastic Corn Beef Hash. You might think...What's the big deal? If you love this stuff you should really take a trip to Greenfields in Litchfield, New Hampshire. This isn't out of a can but home made with big hunks of corn beef and potatoes. There is one dish that my wife loves called "The Pot of Gold" that includes the home-made corned beef and eggs with a cheese sauce over the top. Bring your appetite. Another favorite is the Breakfast Burrito that is grilled and filled with eggs, veggies and bacon, ham or sausage. They have other standard breakfast items but we go for the best corn beef hash arround. Stardate 2010, March. Greenfields closed and was replaced by the seafood restaurant Woodmans. We will miss the corned beef hash at Greenfields:( We did try Woodmans and we were dissapointed. The seafood wasn't great and it was expensive for the money.
