Ice Cream with Garlic Fries

It was another banner weekend for eating out over the weekend. On Friday we found ourselves on the North Shore again where we frequent a place that has the best pistachio ice cream I have ever had. Hodgies in Amesbury, MA is the place and I don't know how they make their ice cream so smooth and creamy but they do. By the way, there is another ice cream place in Stratham, New Hampshire called the "The Right Place" but it used to be a "Hodgies" until the name changed. Anyway, they have the same great ice cream here as well. Moving forward to Saturday... on to the Seafood Festival in Hampton Beach, NH as we have for the last couple of years. This year was a little bit different because we discovered a treat that we had never seen before. French fries that were covered with a garlic sauce and parmesan cheese. All I can say is we ate these very fast and fries don't get any better than this...Credit must go to Ronaldo's for serving up this tasty

Pot of Gold

I want to tell you about a restaurant that we have been to many times because of their fantastic Corn Beef Hash. You might think...What's the big deal? If you love this stuff you should really take a trip to Greenfields in Litchfield, New Hampshire. This isn't out of a can but home made with big hunks of corn beef and potatoes. There is one dish that my wife loves called "The Pot of Gold" that includes the home-made corned beef and eggs with a cheese sauce over the top. Bring your appetite. Another favorite is the Breakfast Burrito that is grilled and filled with eggs, veggies and bacon, ham or sausage. They have other standard breakfast items but we go for the best corn beef hash arround. Stardate 2010, March. Greenfields closed and was replaced by the seafood restaurant Woodmans. We will miss the corned beef hash at Greenfields:( We did try Woodmans and we were dissapointed. The seafood wasn't great and it was expensive for the money.

Stone Cold Creamery

A few years ago my wife and her mom took a road trip to Florida. Both of them love ice cream and on there way through South Carolina they stumbled across a goldmine that they had never heard of...Cold Stone Creamery and so the story begins... Move forward about a year and we are on one of our joy rides to no-where south of Boston heading towards...we had no idea. I took one of the Hingham exits to get gas and there was a mall there that looked interesting and we decided to take a look. As we were driving about my wife saw what she had seen on her trip before...Cold Stone Creamery "We have to go to this place" She harped. I don't think there is anyone who loves ice cream more than my wife so I agreed and we went for the door. Let's just say the place was mobbed with people. She had the German Chocolate Cake and I had some type of mix with vanilla ice cream, peanut butter cups, brownies and chocolate sauce. They take out a mound of ice cream and mix in the in

Lobster Roll Frenzy

Well, another weekend has come and gone and you guessed it? There was no eating in or home cooked meals. My wife has been on a Lobster Roll frenzy and she recently saw VB from the Fox morning show munching on a lobster roll at the Clam Box. The result was a road trip to Ipswich, MA to try one. When we arrived there was a long line out the door as we have heard is commonplace. We viewed the menu and she decided on a lobster roll and I went with the fried shrimp. After much debate we added an order of onion rings. I thought that would be the end but I had to try some of the clams after all the reviews that I read on the wall at the Clam Box. I've never been a huge fan of fried clams but I decided to give them a try. We sat down to a feast and it was some of the best food we have ever tasted. The lobster roll was delicious with large chunks and just the right amount of mayonaise. The clam strips were perfect and I might even try the whole ones the next time. N

The Best Ice Cream in Town

We recently discovered a great place for ice cream in Concord, New Hampshire. You could call us ice cream snobs because we only like the home made kind if you know what I mean? The place is called Granite State Candy and they have some of the best ice cream around. My personal favorite is "Moon Tracks" but they have many others. Anyway, our journey continues to find the best foods in New England and the world.
